Be afraid; be very afraid. Labor hasn't given up on Card Check. You know, the legislation that allows unionization of a workplace via 51% of employees signing a card saying they want unionization. And of course unions would never use intimidation, deception, or other tactics to get people to sign the cards. This would elimination the secret ballot as a way to determine if a workplace goes union.
Anyway, the Las Vegas Sun reports:
On labor law, Bill Samuel, the AFL-CIO’s legislative director, said the union would try to enlist moderate Republicans but acknowledged the difficulty of achieving a bipartisan bill. He said the federation might consider “other tactics,” meaning the card-check legislation or key parts of it could be placed into a larger jobs bill this year.
A jobs bill a few moderate Republicans might vote for, overcoming the 60-vote margin in the Senate needed to pass bad legislation.
This is very bad news. Check Card is a jobs destroyer as it will make small businesses uncompetitive.
