It just might have something to do with the massive increases in spending by Obama and the Spendocrats. Government waste in 2009 increased by $26 billion over 2008 to $98 billion. That's $740 per taxpayer (according to my calculations).
The most waste (according to AP): $55.1 billion by Health and Human Services for over payments in Medicare and Medicaid (does not bode well for when we're all on Medicaid).
The highest percentage of waste: Treasury at 25.5% for improper payments for earned income tax credits.
The least wasteful department: Defense at 0.5%.
What this just goes to show is the bigger the government, the bigger the opportunities for fraud, waste, and abuse. And under the Democrats and Obama, government is the only growth industry in town.
