On the heels of the EPA declaring CO2 an "dangerous" gas that it must control, Congress is getting ready to give the EPA power over your back yard. That is if you ever get a mud puddle in it.
The Clean Water Restoration Act give the EPA jurisdiction over all "waters of the United States." Fox News reports:
"Right now, the law says that the Environmental Protection Agency is in charge of all navigable water," said Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo., chairman of the Senate Western Caucus and an opponent of the bill.
"Well, this bill removes the word 'navigable,' so for ranchers and farmers who have mud puddles, prairie potholes -- anything from snow melting on their land -- all of that water will now come under the regulation of the Army Corps of Engineers and the Environmental Protection Agency," he said.
It could also apply to industrial water treatment ponds, which by definition are polluted (as they treat polluted water). This is a typical government over-reach into your private property rights. It could put the EPA in charge of your back yard or the mud puddle in your driveway. Let's hope this doesn't pass before we can get a few more Republicans in Congress to stop this madness.
