No one big topic to blog about, so a bunch of littler topics (is "littler" a word?) (Yes, apparently it is).
1) The House of Spendocrats is supposed to vote tomorrow on Pelosicare. Well, maybe. It may pass despite Tuesday's election returns. As Kimberly Strassel says in today's Wall Street Journal, the Obama Administration was always a race for time to get their hyper-liberal agenda through before the voting public wakes up and starts voting Democrats out of office. That may have started Tuesday.
I don't usually link to/comment on things Drudge links to because I figure you've already been there. But there's an amazing linkon Drudge about how you will go to jail if you don't buy a $15,000 insurance policy under Pelosicare. Yes, five years in jail for not buying the insurance plan the government mandates which the CBO says will cost $15,000 per year come 2016. Start saving those pennies now. Or pray this dies in the Senate and we get at least some Republican seats back in Congress in 2010 in time to stop this abomination.
2) The horrific shooting at Fort Hood has, as far as I can tell, not caused any calls for gun control. However some are saying we need to be careful not to stereotype Muslims since the shooter was raised in Islam. Oh, and there are reports he yelled "Allah Akbar" ("God is Great") before pulling the trigger. And some are saying this could cause a backlash against Muslims in the military. As Mark Styen points out:
Right now the body count stands at:
Non-Muslims 13
Muslims 0
So who has what to fear from whom? Has there been one instance in the military of a Muslim being targeted?
3) Unemployment is now 10.2%. That's 15 million jobless folks. Remember how the gazillion dollar stimulus was supposed to keep the unemployment rate under 8%. Guess that didn't work. Why not? Oh, yeah, stimulus doesn't stimulate (as I said a year ago). And I'm not the only one saying it. In fact, stimulus impedes growth which is what we are seeing.
