Late in the fourth quarter on a do-or-die 3rd down play, quarterback Jake Locker ran the ball into the end zone for a touchdown. He threw the ball in the air in celebration and got called on a excessive celebration penalty that pushed back the extra point attempt to 35 yards. AP reports: “After scoring the touchdown, the player threw the ball into the air and we are required, by rule, to assess a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty,” Pac-10 referee Larry Farina said in a statement give to Washington officials. “It is a celebration rule that we are required to call. It was not a judgment call.” Don't know if that made a difference, but BYU blocked the extra point attempt and won the game by one point. Did the bad call (excessive celebration for throwing the ball) make the difference in the game? I don't know. We'll never know. So the Huskies drop to 0-2 in a year with a tough tough schedule. Next week they play Oklahoma. The University of Washington Huskies looked much better this week playing the Brigham Young University Cougars than they did last week against the Oregon Ducks. They still lost, 28-27, possibly on a bad call by the officials.
