So the UN IPCC has come out and said that the warming of the earth is "very likely" caused by humans but (and here's the bad news) as AP reports:
[Scientists] said now that world has begun to warm, hotter temperatures and rises in sea level "would continue for centuries" no matter how much humans control their pollution.
Excuse me, but why, then are we going to spend a gazillion dollars trying to curb our "pollution" (love how they've [AP's writers I assume] labeled CO2 "pollution" as their bodies expel it with every breath).
What will it cost to even do almost nothing? Well, most estimate the Kyoto Protocols would would lower temperatures about 0.07 degrees C. And the cost? A million jobs and €80 billion in the EU alone. As Steven Milloy on the website Junk Science speculates:
Guess that means for the bargain price of just $100 trillion we could theoretically lower global mean temperature by about 1 °C.
The environmentalists act as if only reining in greedy corporations will stop global warming. What they don't tell you is how many people will be thrown into poverty. Some estimate everyone would be 30% poorer. Other estimate 50%.
But what does it matter, it's "unstoppable"?
